Artist's Comments

How exciting - this is not only my first entry into the first annual Shades of Autumn contest (via *jademacalla), but also my first foray into the world of stock art!

I'm attempting to portray Andi, the mysterious leather-gloved courier. She doesn't sound like the smiling type, thus the haughty expression. This was a fun excuse to raid the seriously neglected "fancypants" part of my closet. She's not described anywhere as having a knife (she's probably got plenty of other tricks) but it seemed apropos.

This being my first attempt at stock, there's clearly some technical issues (it's hard to adjust exposure levels when you're as pale and pink as me!) but I'm generally pleased with how they came out.

If you happen to use any of these, please please please let me know with a link, I'd love to see the results, and please credit me in the description of your work.

Yup, she looks mean enough :D And very posh.

Thanks! I don't get to pretend to be aloof and rich very often, but it sure is entertaining. :)

I have to say that generally when I'm looking at stock, I don't pay much attention to any shadows cast by the model as I usually cut them out. But I really love some of the shadows in these: They really accent the image so well, especially the bottom left one. Very cool! Good luck in the contest!

Funny you mention that; I thought the shadows were a little distracting and was considering editing them out. Then I realized that would take me forEVER (and as you said they're usually cut out anyway) and decided against it. Glad to see you liked 'em, and thanks bunches! :)

The cure for boredom is curiousity. There is no cure for curiosity.

 Creating stock is loads of fun. Maybe you should consider more of it ;)
